The future of our children is in your hands. Together We Stand, and United We Succeed!
Thanks to everyone for your tremendously generous support. Last night we were able to prevail in the election. Now our work to support our children can and will continue. I want to give a special thank you to Michael Chaus, my campaign organizer, and all the volunteers, Rick Petry, my webpage designer, Christie Denson, my wonderful publicist, our magnificent teacher’s union and our teachers, the Woodbury Justice and Equity group and all the wonderful people who knocked on doors and placed signs in their yards and passed out flyers.
I appreciate every one of you.
Thank you so much!

I am running for a third term to continue to represent you and your family. As your current School Board Director and Clerk, I also serve on the Climate & Culture Committee and the Equity & Integration Advisory Committee. I am passionate about education, and I have the enthusiasm to represent your best interests on the school board.
I am running for re-election to continue to bring my unique perspective to the board, and to continue to be a voice that challenges issues that are not in the best interest of our children. By supporting my re-election, you allow the board to continue to benefit from my broad educational experience and diverse life experience in District 833.
I know the importance of being responsive and receptive to parents, staff, students and the community. School board members are trustees for the community that elects them, which makes all of us stakeholders. Therefore, we must be partners in this endeavor if we are to be successful. I want to make certain we deliver on the promises made to the community.
I am committed to continue to strengthen relationships between all stakeholders in the community, so you are empowered, welcomed, valued and respected, and to improve the dialogue between the district and the community to collaborate in a more meaningful and purposeful manner.
I will support unique and dynamic programs that benefit children. Every child needs access to resources and opportunities that prepare them for a successful future in a global society. This also means diligent focus on closing the achievement gaps, particularly for those who fell behind during the pandemic and distance learning.
I have spent my 30-year professional career working for student equity & inclusion. My experience as the Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion at Mitchell Hamline School of Law grants me the opportunity to work with students from around the country and from various cultural and social economic backgrounds. Eight years ago, I ran for School Board because there were no African Americans serving on the board. I continue to represent our BIPOC students, staff, as well as our majority students in this challenging season.
I know that strengthening our financial standing is a concern and an area where we need to work together. I will ensure that our tax dollars benefit the education of our children, and that we make sound, ethical and fiscal decisions.
I have eight years of experience understanding the complexities of our district budget. I manage my own department budget at Mitchell Hamline and I understand what it means to be accountable to my employer and a Board of Trustees. I also want to emphasize the intrinsic knowledge of not only being a board member, but a parent, grandparent and foster parent in this community, when it comes to making tough financial decisions.
I prioritized school safety as a central commitment, so that our children are safe inside and outside of our schools. Our work during the pandemic has created a stronger bridge for the awareness between health, education, and social services that promotes student well-being and wellness. The decision to wear masks ensured you, the community that our children would have the opportunity to attend classes in person.
